All basic terms & Elements
Human Design is made up various elements that make up your chart. Here I give a short introduction of each of the elements.
1
Energy Centers
Human Design recognizes nine energy centers in the body. These centers represent different aspects of an individual's life and personality, and they can be either defined (colored in) or undefined (white). A defined center means you can draw from an integrated source of wisdom concerning that center, its the center with steady and consistent energy, the energy you always carry with you, while undefined centers reflect sensitivity to external influences. The nine centers are; Head center, Ajna center, Throat center, G center, Heart center, Splenic center, Solar Plexus center and Root center.
2
Energy Type
In Human Design, there are four primary energy types, also known as "Types," which describe how people interact with and respond to the world around them. Each energy type has its unique characteristics, decision-making strategies, and ways of using their energy. Here are the four energy types in Human Design: Manifestor, (Manifesting) Generator, Generator, Projector and Reflector.
3
Authority
Life is rich in choices to be made. We often find ourselves in situations where we have to respond with “yes, let's go, “maybe”, “oh heck no”. Where we always try to get it right, we often get it wrong. Yet there is a way, according to Human Design, to help you make wiser decisions in the future. Your Authority is the one that helps you make faster and better decisions.
4
Channels
Channels in Human Design are formed when two defined Centers are connected by a continuous line (defined by colored gates). Each Channel represents a specific theme or energy flow. This means that the themes, functions, or gifts that are associated with a defined Channel will always be present in your life, regardless of the circumstances. The channels are seen as gifts as they provide us with specific strengths and abilities. For example, the Channel of Inspiration can give us the gift of creativity and expression, while the Channel of Exploration can give us the gift of curiosity and resourcefulness.
5
Gates
Gates are the smallest units within the Human Design system, and they are associated with specific traits, characteristics, and energies. There are 64 gates in total, each with its own meaning and significance. The gates provide a detailed insight into how an individual interacts with the world and processes experiences.
6
Planets
In Human Design, each Center and Gate is associated with one of the planets in our solar system. These planetary associations provide additional insights into an individual's design and personality traits. The planets include the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
7
Profiles
Human Design profiles are derived from the positions of the Sun and Earth at the time of birth. Profiles offer insights into an individual's life path, role in society, and how they interact with others. There are twelve different profiles in Human Design and always consists of 2 numbers.
The first number represents your conscious side. So, you will more easily recognize this side of yourself. The second number is your unconscious side. As you get older, you might recognize yourself more in this, but mostly people around you will know this side of you.
